Kanso RSS for iOS
Last updated: May 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Studio Taupe (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Kanso RSS app for iOS.
1. Who we are
Kanso RSS is developed by Studio Taupe, based in Deventer, the Netherlands. You can contact us at developer@studiotaupe.com.
2. What data the app processes
Kanso RSS is primarily a local app. To provide its features, it can process:
- Feed & article data — Feed URLs you add, feed titles, and the articles your feeds publish (title, link, summary/content when available). This is stored on your device so the app can show your feed list, reading history, saved items, and read/unread state.
- Reading and organization state — Flags like saved, read/unread, and optional folders/shelves.
- Website fetching — The app downloads RSS/Atom feeds and sometimes HTML pages you explicitly add (for feed discovery or “page watch”). This is done directly from your device to those websites.
- Handwritten notes — If you use markup, the app stores your PencilKit drawings locally and associates them with the article.
3. Accounts & syncing (optional)
Kanso RSS can offer optional sign-in and syncing. If you choose to sign in, the app uses Firebase Authentication (Apple, Google, or email/password). When syncing is enabled, the app can store your feed list and related article metadata in a cloud database (Firebase / Firestore) under your user ID to keep your data consistent across devices.
Synced data may include: feed URL/title, feed icon URL, your saved/read state, and article metadata (such as title, link, summary/content when provided by the feed).
4. Purchases (Kanso Plus)
If you subscribe to Kanso Plus, purchases are processed by Apple via the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. Apple may provide us with purchase/entitlement status to unlock features.
5. Third-party services
Kanso RSS may use the following third-party services, which have their own privacy practices:
- Apple — App distribution and in-app purchases: Apple Privacy Policy.
- Google / Firebase — Optional authentication and cloud syncing: Google Privacy Policy.
6. Data retention & deletion
Local data remains on your device until you remove feeds, clear data, or uninstall the app. If you use an account, you can request deletion of your cloud data. The app includes account deletion flows that remove your user data from Firebase/Firestore and delete your account (subject to provider requirements such as “recent login”).
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at developer@studiotaupe.com.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
9. Contact
For questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact Studio Taupe at developer@studiotaupe.com.
